The savannah area consists of tropical grasslands with scattered trees. This area is crossed by creeks with dark brown water. The water in the creek is invigorating and full of minerals and owes its color to the flushing of the humus bottom. Enough wildlife to see, from parrots and toucans to deer and wild boars.

Raleighfalls are part of the Central Suriname nature reserve covering an area of 78.170 hectares, located along the Coppename River. The reserve is internationally known for its large variety of wildlife especially monkeys and birds (400 species). The beautiful waterfalls and the top of the Voltzberg reaching 240 meters above the treetops are renowned and worth the challenge to climb.

The Upper-Suriname area is known for its unique Maroon culture and its untouched Amazon Rainforest. The Maroons, descendants of runaway slaves, have settled in the inaccessible rain forest a long time ago, where they started a new existence.

By their isolated way of life, they developed a unique culture with strong African influences.

In a motorized canoe you travel deeper into the Upper Suriname area to an island that is transformed into a river resort. You will stay 2 nights at a simple resort called Isadou that is not only popular for its massive water rapids and sandy beaches, but more for its serenity. This resort is unique because its intent is to let the local maroons profit from the growth of tourism in this area.

Fill your days with adventurous excursions like jungle hikes, caiman spotting, hikes through authentic Maroon villages and boat rides through rapids.  Meals: B, L & D (Travel distance approx. 200 km)

Most tour operators (like Orange Travel) list their rates in Euro.
The most advantageous way to pay is cash or by bank* in Euro.
Followed by cash in SRD or U$D, then POS in SRD * and finally a credit card payment **.

* If there are any additional bank charges, these should be paid by the customer. If it turns out that not the full agreed amount is credited to our account, the difference should still be paid before participating or checking in.

** When using POS (our machine only excepts SRD) we will use the daily exchange rate of the cambio’s. As these sometimes differ significantly from the rate your- and our bank uses, you can come out worse between 10% and 30% (in this Orange Travel has no benefit, yet influence).

*** All credit card payments are processed in U$D and a bank fee is added. The fee for Visa and MasterCard is 5% (in this Orange Travel has no benefit, yet influence). This payment method requires you to show your passport.
